Christine Fortin

Vice-President, Senior Wealth Advisor and Financial Planner, BMO Nesbitt Burns

Christine Fortin, Vice-President and Senior Wealth Advisor possesses over 25 years of experience in the financial industry.

Christine was born and raised mostly in Montreal, Quebec. However, with a railroader for a father, she ended up moving 7 times cross country by the time she was 14 years old. She focused her efforts on her swimming and as an elite level pianist.

She had her sights set early on Corporate Law, but after completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from the University of British Columbia, Christine has a job offer in Taipei and Hong Kong developing an equity portfolio for institutional investors. An early ex-pat entrant to that market, she honed her passions for the industry and developed a global perspective and expertise that is unheard of in the private client world.

Being fired up by the gross discrepancy in quality and delivery of wealth advise in the private client world and Christine joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 1998 as a Wealth Advisor.

Christine is now the team leader of the Fortin Wealth Advisory Group who have defined themselves as the most globally focused wealth counsel group in Western Canada. The team is purposely constrained to only working with 85 high net worth and ultra-high net worth families. She works in a family enterprise advisor capacity with a large percentage of her clients as they are business owners with multiple financial challenges and goals. Having one person to bring together their commercial banking, private banking, tax advice, business successor advice and legal advice has been a great challenge for Christine and an enormous benefit for her clients.

Few advisors more actively reinvest and retool their practice, examine and improve their client services and experiences, and invest in sophisticated global investment learning. She has well considered opinions on the current and future needs of clients, trends in the financial services industry and the challenges to building strong practices and a strong brands in an oversupplied banking and financial services market.

Christine's other passion is helping those connected to her to define their own value. Christine has been viewed as one of the leading thinkers and practitioners of high-value wealth advice in North America.

Christine is considered a thought leader on disrupting the status quo and has been called upon by a well-known consultant to the financial industry and to the creative board at a well known technology firm, as a resource for the Financial Industry in providing for more streamlined processes and solutions in the ever changing financial industry.

Christine resides in South Surrey and loves the beach life of her adopted home. They have a Chalet which they use frequently in the summer for lake life and the winter to recreate the winter wonderland of the Laurentians. She travels with her partner, Kent, who she is marrying in Belfast in 2019, who is originally a "Winnipegger" and her toddler son, Kase. She is an avid Cyclist and "gourmand"! You may just spot her cycling by with a baguette strapped to her back. She also enjoys historical literature, art, home design, cooking extraordinary meals for her family, good humour, great wine, and grand debate.
